Composer who adds his speaking voice into his scores

További információk:

Máté Balogh is a Hungarian composer with a diverse portfolio of scores that take the past with him as he flies into the future. His most recent prize: the Artisjus Prize in the category of ‘The Piece of the Year (2023),’ was for his ‘Sinfonia No. 1’. Its subtitle “Omaggio á Giuseppe Haydn,” refers to Haydn’s structural and orchestrational features that Balogh integrated into his score. He has won other prestigious prizes – the Junior Prima Award, First Prize in the UMZF Competition, and the honorary award from the GENERACE composer competition (for his “Jam Quartet”). Many of his works have been performed in multitudinous festivals and venues around the world. He composed the sound track of Zsófia Szilágyi’s film “One Day,”which was awarded the FIPRESCI-Prize in Cannes, 2019.

Balogh is an assistant professor in the Music Theory Department of the Liszt Academy, as well as at the University of Szeged. He has also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Universal Music Publishing Editio Musica Budapest, specializing in György Kurtág’s works. Previously having served as a professor at the International Kodály Institute, he is presently the composer in residence at the Hungarian pavilion of the 61st Biennale di Venezia (2026).
